Winter in the Isarco Valley – Skiing on Mount Plose and in Val Gardena
The ski areas Plose and Val Gardena / Alpe di Siusi offer skiers and freestylers everything their hearts may desire. Situated at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, the Plose ski resort (15 km from the farm Aichnerhof) not only offers a breath-taking panoramic view of the Dolomites, but also plenty of sunshine due to the southern location. Nine ski lifts are at your disposal and take you to the ski slopes (40 km!). Freestylers will have great fun in the Funpark Plose, and after an exciting day you may enjoy the après-ski feeling in a rustic alpine hut. By the way, there’s not only skiing here: toboggan runs and winter hiking trails are also waiting for you.
The largest ski area within the Dolomiti Superski ski carousel is the region Val Gardena / Alpe di Siusi (12-15 km from the farm Aichnerhof). It’s a true winter sports paradise that offers not only 175 km of ski slopes and 80 ski lifts, but also adventure slopes and Italy’s best snow park. If you want to go on a day-tour in the winter, you have several possibilities: For example, the Val Gardena-Alpe di Siusi-Ronda, the Hexenrunde or the 26 km Sella Ronda.
What else can you do during a winter vacation in South Tyrol?
If you wish to escape the touristic hustle and bustle, we recommend a visit to the Alpe di Villandro. On this idyllic and extensive alpine plateau, you may enjoy pure nature and tranquillity during cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Two cross-country trails with a total length of 14 km await you here: The Rinderplatz cross-country ski trail is also suitable for beginners, while the Foggoia cross-country ski trail is a great choice for more experienced skiers.
A snowshoe hike is another wonderful winter activity – A great experience for your body and soul: While you move leisurely in the fresh air, you can admire many new impressions, enjoy the beautiful weather and breathe pure nature. Families with children can spend a great day on one of the natural toboggan runs (30 km). If you need a break, on the Alpe di Villandro you will find many alpine huts with sun terraces, where you can relax with a delicious snack.
